The ideal candidate has 8+ years in sustainable finance or carbon markets, fluent Spanish and English, and strong financial modeling. Travel up to 30% is required, with grant-related work spanning borders.

Qualifications

• Native or fluent Spanish with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Fluent English required.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in sustainable finance, management consulting, investment banking, or carbon markets — ideally with direct deal execution.
• Passionate about conservation with belief in market-based forest financing.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, including pricing models, scenario analyses, DCF, or revenue flows.
• Experience leading multi-stakeholder engagements and preparing materials for senior audiences.
• Experience with government officials, multilateral institutions, or C-suite executives.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% across LATAM and to EDF's New York office.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Latin America Carbon Advisory in managing government relationships across participating countries.
• Develop country commercialization strategies, including market pathways, pricing recommendations, transaction structures, buyer engagement plans, and implementation roadmaps.
• Lead transaction analytical support, including buyer engagement, proposal evaluation, due diligence processes, negotiation preparation, term sheet development, and transaction structuring.
• Coordinate delivery across workstreams, ensuring alignment among government stakeholders, implementing agencies, legal counsel, technical experts, and external advisors to maintain momentum toward transaction milestones.
• Develop decision-support materials and financial analyses, including pricing models, revenue projections, benefit-sharing analyses, ministerial briefings, negotiation memoranda, and other materials required for government decision-making.
• Provide ongoing market intelligence and strategic advice, tracking policy developments across voluntary and compliance carbon markets and translating market trends into actionable recommendations for participating governments.
• Participate in advancing EDF’s organizational effectiveness and culture goals, so people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included and empowered to address environmental and organizational challenges in ways that align with EDF values.
