Job summary

City of New York’s NYC Health Department seeks a Senior Manager of Capacity Building within the Office of the Deputy Commissioner to strengthen internal capacity for racial equity and Race to Justice initiatives. You will lead communities of practice, design capacity-building programs, and coordinate across agency teams to embed equity into daily work.

Qualifications

• Three years of full-time experience in program management, community-based programming, public health, government, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and facilitation of communities of practice for agency staff, including equity-focused staff and senior level leadership.
• Organize and/or deliver capacity building trainings and workshops focused on embedding equity into daily practices and job responsibilities.
• Evaluate capacity building programs for quality assurance through surveys and analysis of findings.
• Stay abreast of current research, evidence-based best practices, and tools/resources for applying equity in public health.
• Manage, update, and serve as the technical point person for a tool library that includes equity focused tools and resources to assist staff in embedding racial justice and equity.
• Serve as central point of contact for agency equity stakeholder community, including implementing a system of accountability for staff working on projects that advance the goals of the Office of the Chief Equity Officer.
• Connect and coordinate with other team members as it relates to capacity building.
• Contribute to the overall design, strategy, and implementation of Race to Justice activities, as a member of the management team.
