Job summary

Carrot is seeking a Sr. Manager, Data Engineering to lead our BI data engineering function as it scales to meet the organization and client needs. This senior player/coach role combines strategic leadership with hands-on engineering to shape Carrot's data infrastructure.

You will set technical vision, drive cross-functional data strategy, and ensure our data systems are reliable, scalable, and secure, partnering with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Security, and Legal to align on priorities.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of experience in data engineering or related field.
• 3-5+ years leading data or software engineers.
• 5+ years of advanced SQL and 5+ years of Python in production.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and roadmap for BI data engineering.
• Design, build, and review scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration systems, contributing hands-on production code.
• Architect data warehouse models to support analytics, self-service BI, and reporting.
• Establish standards for reliability, observability, testing, and performance across data systems.
• Drive data quality, lineage, and governance including documentation and metadata practices.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Security, and Legal to align on priorities and remove blockers.
• Lead and develop a team of data engineers and manage capacity planning and delivery across workstreams.
