Senior Manager, Corporate Global Trade Compliance
Position Summary
Support the Global Trade Compliance Team to drive trade compliance excellence by ensuring adherence to applicable U.S. and non-U.S. laws and regulations related to international trade. Assist businesses in assessing and mitigating tariff requirements and other compliance risks. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and support the development of efficient and effective compliance procedures to adhere to US and local regulations. Collaborate with functions such as Procurement, Operations, Supply Chain, Tax, and Finance to manage tariff and ESG requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Corporate GTC Team and Trade Compliance Leaders to drive strategic direction and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Handle complex issues with input from divisional and corporate GTC leaders.
- Make risk-related decisions in conjunction with business partners on less complex or high-value matters.
- Support the use of the Global Trade Compliance Strategic Solution, OneSource, including training, reporting, and monitoring metrics.
- Utilize CBP’s ACE and the GTC Strategic Solution for data integrity, classification, and origin reporting for Thermo Fisher products.
- Assist with duty drawback program applications and management.
- Support internal assessments, desk audits, and post-audit follow-ups, developing proactive programs based on audit themes.
- Drive continuous process improvements for tariff mitigation, operational excellence, and financial benefits.
- Analyze trade environment changes and propose strategic compliance improvements.
- Supervise process improvements while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with trade compliance resources on business-impacting issues.
- Mitigate organizational risk through proactive process management in compliance with policies and laws.
- Enhance knowledge and professionalism of import/export resources and leadership, fostering cost and tariff savings.
- Lead complex projects and change initiatives impacting future business goals.
- Apply critical thinking and judgment to analyze complex GTC issues and develop evidence-based solutions considering legislation.
Minimum Experience and Skills Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Transportation/Logistics, Business, International Trade, or equivalent experience.
- 8-10 years in compliance management within a multi-national company, preferably in capital equipment.
- Knowledge of SAP, E1, QAD, Power BI is advantageous.
- Experience supervising global import/export activities.
- Logistics experience or Customs Broker License is a plus.
- Ability to travel up to 20% globally.
