Job summary

Xcel Energy in Texas is seeking a Senior Leader in Community Relations to shape engagement plans for large-load growth projects and build trusted ties with officials, communities, and regulatory bodies. You will coordinate with cross-functional teams to align messaging and ensure timely information flow across the territory.

The role requires 7+ years in public affairs, a degree in communications or related field, and a willingness to work non-traditional hours to attend local meetings.

Qualifications

• 7 years of experience in community engagement or public affairs strategy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for public settings.
• Willing to work non-traditional hours for meetings.

Responsibilities

• Build community- and jurisdiction-specific engagement plans for large-load growth projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with officials, community leaders, relevant economic development or governing bodies, and local organizations.
• Respond to, listen for, and elevate community concerns and questions related to growth projects.
• Keep internal teams informed of community sentiment; coordinate with counterparts from other OpCos and central communications team.
• Partner with existing Community Relations, Account Management, and/or local partners to ensure coordinated outreach and share learnings across the territory.
• Tailor messaging to jurisdiction-specific priorities and keep engagement aligned as regulatory filings and site development progress.
• Perform special projects and other duties, as required.
