Job summary

Xcel Energy, a leading energy provider, seeks a senior policy leader in Colorado to drive state and local government energy policy strategy for large load customers and infrastructure siting. You will coordinate across legislative, regulatory, and community relations teams to align messaging and expedite projects.

You will build a statewide advocacy playbook, engage legislators, local officials, and economic development partners, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver proactive growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred but not required.
• 8 years of demonstrated experience in state or local government affairs, community relations, external relations, public policy, communications, or advocacy ideally in energy, infrastructure, or large-scale development context.
• Very strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to navigate complex political and community issues.
• Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to attend community, state and local government meetings.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of a proactive Colorado narrative and stakeholder strategy.
• Provide leadership in executing PSCo’s Colorado state and local government energy policy priorities.
• Translate growth priorities into a proactive Colorado strategy aligned with local regulations and community engagement.
• Identify and mitigate political, municipal, regulatory, and reputational risks affecting growth and siting.
• Build and lead statewide advocacy and ground-game playbooks for large load customers and infrastructure projects.
• Provide timely leadership context and coordinate cross-functional projects to advance PSCo priorities.
