Job summary

The E.W. Scripps Company’s Milwaukee NBC affiliate WTMJ is seeking a Senior Manager of Community Connections to be the station’s primary link to civic, nonprofit, business, educational, and government leaders.

You will turn community insights into stronger journalism, partnerships that matter, and events that audiences attend. You’ll lead the newsroom’s daily community engagement, ensuring timely responses to audience questions and coordinating forums, town halls, and other outreach initiatives

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in community engagement, journalism, nonprofit leadership, communications, public affairs, partnership development, government relations, or related fields.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in related discipline; equivalent professional experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders to understand priorities and opportunities.
• Gather, analyze, and communicate community insights to leadership, newsroom teams, and partners.
• Partner with News to identify story opportunities and connect journalists with trusted sources.
• Lead and coordinate community engagement events, forums, and public-service initiatives.
• Oversee cross-functional outreach with News, Sales, Marketing and station leadership.
• Advise leadership on community needs and strategies to strengthen trust and local impact.
