Job summary

Employ Prince George's is seeking a Senior Manager, Communications who will highlight our mission through clear messaging that supports the communities we serve. This role oversees internal and external communications and ensures information is accessible, responsive, and aligned with our commitment to expanding employment opportunities.

The leader will also help our organization remain a trusted partner and reliable resource across our region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of communications, public affairs, or marketing experience.
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and digital communication skills.
  • Ability to translate workforce development outcomes into compelling narratives.
  • Experience managing multiple outreach channels including major social platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead external communications to elevate the organization’s presence across media, partners, and the community.
  • Develop clear, timely internal communications to support staff alignment and cross-department collaboration.
  • Create and manage public-facing and internal content, including newsletters, press releases, staff updates, social media, and impact stories.
  • Ensure messaging reflects organizational values and workforce development goals.
  • Build relationships with media outlets, employers, and community partners to amplify program outcomes.
  • Communicate program results, funding achievements, and milestones to stakeholders.
  • Apply best writing and messaging practices for PR, advertising, marketing, and social media.

Scope of Responsibilities
  • Lead external communications to elevate the organization’s presence across media, partners, and the community.
  • Develop clear, timely internal communications that support staff alignment, organizational updates, and cross-department collaboration.
  • Create and manage public-facing and internal content, including newsletters, press releases, staff updates, social media, and impact stories.
  • Ensure consistent messaging that reflects organizational values and workforce development goals.
  • Build relationships with media outlets, employers, and community partners to amplify program outcomes and organizational initiatives.
  • Communicate program results, funding achievements, and organizational milestones to stakeholders.
  • Implement best writing and messaging practices for public relations, advertising, marketing, and social media to align with target audiences
Selection Criteria
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of communications, public affairs, or marketing experience.
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and digital communication skills.
  • Ability to translate workforce development outcomes into compelling narratives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing multiple outreach channels, including social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, including content creation
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with staff, leadership, and community partners.
