Job summary

Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to support the growth of the Corporate, Finance & Transactions practice globally. You will advise Practice Group Leaders and attorneys, coordinate strategy, and drive initiatives across regional and international teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field.
  • 5–7 years prior law firm, CPA or professional services marketing experience.
  • Proven ability to present and communicate clearly in writing.
  • Ability to organize and manage large data sets and guide others.
  • Ability to work with internal and external clients at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Drive high value revenue growth and expand client relationships across the global footprint with US ownership.
  • Develop market intelligence and firm differentiators tailored to opportunities.
  • Coach practice group lawyers on current and new business opportunities.
  • Support RFP responses with prospect materials; lead pitches and track outcomes.
  • Maintain content for practice group materials and update bios with language.
  • Lead BD efforts with lateral integration; report plan progress.
  • Coordinate planning and budgeting for Corporate, Finance & Transactions initiatives.
  • Develop BD plans with lead lawyers and review ROI.
  • Collaborate with Practice Group Leaders on local and regional initiatives.
  • Provide support for external client events with Marketing Events Team.
  • Oversee collateral production and contributions to campaigns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Senior Manager, Business Development

The Senior Business Development Manager supports our Firm's efforts to grow the Global Corporate, Finance & Transactions portfolio and to drive revenue. The Senior Manager will provide strategic guidance to Practice Group Leaders and attorneys across the global selected Corporate, Finance & Transactions practices. This individual will have a firm understanding of these practice areas and will play an integral role in executing key strategic initiatives and raising the profile of the practice. This role is extremely collaborative and requires frequent proactive communication across our department including both regional and global teams.

The Senior Business Development Manager will report to the Global Director of Business Development.

You’ll be responsible for:

Client and New Business Development:

  • Works closely with the Global Director of Business Development to drive high value revenue growth and expand client relationships across the BCLP global footprint, with specific ownership for the US, providing market intelligence and firm differentiators tailored to each opportunity.
  • Drives strategy by identifying client issues, mapping out market trends, and developing engaging programming for corporate clients and relevant sectors.
  • Serves as the point of contact for practice group lawyers and provides coaching on current and new business opportunities.
  • In conjunction with the Proposals Team, supports practice group responses for RFP opportunities including development of prospect specific materials. Lead pitch opportunities, including customization as appropriate. Track opportunity origination and wins/losses, reporting developments regularly.
  • Working with BD Sr. Coordinator and Executive creates and maintains content for practice group materials including experience profiles, practice descriptions, and related areas on the website; work with attorneys to update and provide language for their bios.
  • In conjunction with the Global Director of Business Development and Lateral Integration Team, leads BD efforts associated with lateral integration, including prioritizing tactics for outreach to existing and prospective clients, working with the partner to define their message within the firm, executing on the plan, and providing status reports of plan developments.

Planning and Budgeting:

  • Coordinates with the Global Director of Business Development to implement firm wide planning and budgeting efforts for Corporate, Finance & Transactions business development initiatives.
  • Collaborates with lead lawyers to develop business development plans for practice groups and sub-practices, managing the implementation and ongoing review/ROI of established plans and tactics.
  • Coordinates with the Practice Group Leaders and individual attorneys in planning and budgeting of local, regional and practice area business development initiatives at the direction of the Global Director of Business Development.

Project Management:

  • Provides as-needed support for external client events in conjunction with Marketing Events Team to include seminars, conferences, trade shows, dinners or other functions and business development initiatives arising out of those events.
  • Supervises on an as-needed basis production of collateral materials needed such as brochures, PowerPoint presentations, and premium items.
  • Maintains involvement in various projects related to firm wide marketing initiatives or Corporate, Finance & Transactions campaigns as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field
  • Minimum five to seven (5-7) years prior law firm, CPA or other professional services marketing experience
  • Proven ability to make presentations and to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to organise and manage large amounts of data, hardcopy and electronic, details, plans, and give direction to individuals to accomplish goals
  • Ability to deal professionally with all internal and external clients on all levels
  • Ability to work under pressure and with changing work priorities
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work varying hours as needed
  • Requires the ability to regularly report to work on the days and times scheduled

Pursuant to the New York and Washington D.C. pay transparency laws, BCLP is posting a reasonable estimate of a compensation range for this position. At the time of posting, the estimated New York range is $196,300 to $216,000 and Washington D.C. range is $188,300 to $207,000. Actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including but not limited to the level of relevant experience, skillsets, training, licensure and certifications, internal equity, market data, and other job-related factors permitted by law. The range is based on a full-timework schedule. Additional compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
