Job summary

The National Hockey League seeks a Senior Manager, Broadcasting to coordinate day-to-day operations with national and regional rightsholders, NHL clubs, and internal departments. You will manage information flow, support production and broadcasts, and help implement new broadcast technology while aligning with league objectives.

This role requires strong communication, extensive knowledge of sports TV production, and willingness to travel and work nights/weekends.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of television and/or radio production and operations experience, preferably in sports.
  • Ability to carry out detailed instructions and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize, identify, and mediate conflict amongst multiple parties.
  • Strong knowledge of sports television production and operations.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel and work nights and weekends, as needed.
  • College degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key department representative and liaison between the thirty-two NHL Clubs and all television and radio rightsholders.
  • Support the production operations of rightsholders during the regular season, playoffs and at all League tentpole events.
  • Maintain day-to-day relationships with US and Canadian national television production contacts.
  • Support NHL Radio rightsholders production plans at NHL games and tentpole events and ensure the daily upload of audio highlights to NHL content platforms.
  • Serve as the lone on-site department representative at NHL games while providing production coordination and support.
  • Assess rightsholder broadcast equipment placement and camera position setups at NHL games to adhere to broadcast operations standards and guidelines.
  • Pre-screen audio acquired by national rightsholders’ wireless microphones and locker room footage in consultation with Club PR directors.
  • Make independent decisions to resolve conflicts during critical, time sensitive situations amongst multiple parties while providing detailed communication updates for senior management.
  • Monitor and support rightsholder team access requests throughout the season and at League events, assisting Club PR directors with interview logistics.
  • Provide rightsholders with information and assets that highlight NHL initiatives throughout the year.
  • Manage the daily distribution of NHL content to broadcast rightsholders.
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of arena broadcast camera maps throughout the regular season and playoffs.
  • Create weekly programming schedule grids and department assignment schedules.
  • Coordinate content and arrangements for the annual NHL Broadcast Meetings.
  • Create and maintain a portfolio of broadcast talent and best practices.
  • Provide quality control support and editorial intervention for NHL broadcasts.
  • Other miscellaneous / departmental related duties, as assigned.

Summary
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

The Senior Manager, Broadcasting will fill a significant and strategic role as a liaison providing support to all US and Canadian national and regional broadcast rightsholders, NHL Clubs, and all internal departments. This position will be responsible for providing necessary and detailed information in support of over thirty-five rightsholder relationships and will be tasked managing the day-to-day operational landscape in a productive manner, as well as making recommendations to strengthen those relationships. Responsibilities for the position include building, maintaining, and managing strong relationships with all parties related to television production and operations, content sharing, and integration of new broadcast technology, while ensuring that the integrated NHL departmental business objectives are not only met, but exceeded.

Qualifications

SALARY RANGE

$100-105k

Actual base pay for a successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to: experience/training, market demands, and geographic location.
