Job summary

Redwood Materials Inc. in San Francisco, CA, seeks a Senior Manager, Field Performance Engineering, Energy Storage to lead a multifunctional team spanning service, applications, field quality, and reliability engineering.

This onsite role covers the health of the deployed BESS fleet and fleet-level metrics. You will own root-cause investigations, establish handoff criteria between operations and product engineering, and drive fleet monitoring and service tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering; Master's preferred.
• 10+ years in complex electromechanical or grid-scale energy systems.
• 3+ years of people management.
• Experience with high-voltage AC/DC systems and safety practices.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Manages and grows a multifunctional department of service, applications, field quality, and reliability engineers, including hiring and developing functional leads
• Accountable for the quality and reliability performance of the deployed BESS fleet
• Establishes fleet-level statistical reporting on product quality and reliability, including failure rates, availability, and warranty trends, for engineering and executive leadership
• Directs technical investigations of field failures across electrical, thermal, controls, software, and power conversion systems through root cause and corrective action closure
• Establishes escalation tiers, service-level agreements, and handoff criteria between operations and maintenance, service engineering, and product engineering, along with frameworks for fleet monitoring, service tooling, and service documentation
• Manages applications engineering support for customer system sizing, integration, and site-specific configuration
• Manages the feedback loop from field data to product engineering, defining reliability and serviceability requirements for current and next-generation systems
