Job summary

California State Lottery seeks a Senior Management Auditor to lead complex internal audits, oversee external audits, and ensure QAIP compliance. The role reports to the Internal Audits Deputy Director and drives risk-based planning, policy updates, and audit committee reporting.

The SMA guides staff, strengthens internal controls, and collaborates with management to promote operational excellence across the organization. Hybrid telework is eligible from Sacramento HQ.

Qualifications

• Leadership and staff-development capabilities demonstrated by building high-performing teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for complex audit reports.
• Experience maintaining a credible work environment with clear standards.
• Deep knowledge of International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IIA).
• Ability to independently plan, organize, and lead complex audits.
• Strong analytical skills and data analytics experience.
• Ability to manage multiple high-priority audits in a fast-paced setting.
• Proficiency with Diligent and Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to build relationships with executives and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex audits and supervise audit staff across phases.
• Oversee external audit activities and follow-up implementations.
• Manage risk assessment and audit plan development.
• Contribute to audit policy updates and QAIP compliance.
• Prepare reports for the Audit Committee and assist budgeting.
• Collaborate with Lottery management to strengthen controls and operations.
