Job summary

The Central Point School District 6 is seeking a Maintenance Worker III to ensure district facilities are safe, clean, and well-maintained. This full-time position requires skilled repair work across electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing and painting disciplines, with independent work under standard procedures.

Responsibilities include handling hazardous materials, pest control, lockout procedures, and coordinating with administrators and staff.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years experience in building maintenance and repair.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Must read, write, understand and follow multi-step written and verbal instructions in English.
• Must possess a valid Oregon pesticide applicator license.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must possess a valid Oregon drinking water systems certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of maintenance and repair duties on District buildings, facilities and equipment, including electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing and painting work.
• Repairs and maintains heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical and water treatment systems, including disassembly, cleaning, filter changes, lubrication, belt replacement and reassembly.
• Coordinates disposal of hazardous materials, including asbestos and fluorescent lighting.
• Performs basic pest management functions, including application of restricted-use pesticides.
• Implements lock out tag out procedures when working on hazardous machinery.
• Repairs roofing and gutters and performs other outdoor building work requiring the safe operation of a lift.
• Maintains and performs light repairs to plumbing equipment, including pipes, drains, sewer lines, faucets, washers and gaskets.
• Installs and repairs locks, doors, hinges, door jambs and related hardware.
• Maintains building exteriors, including patching holes and removing paint and graffiti.
• Repairs broken custodial equipment or brings malfunctioning machinery to outside repair facilities.
• Transports furniture, building equipment and supplies between District facilities as directed.
• Prepares surfaces for painting and applies appropriate finishes.
• Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools, including saws, drills and grinders.
• Monitors inventory of maintenance supplies and fills supply orders as needed.
• Identifies and reports safety hazards and repair needs to appropriate personnel.
• Assists with building construction and renovation projects as required.
