Job summary

Serta Simmons Bedding is hiring a Maintenance Technician for the 2nd shift in Houston, TX. The role focuses on complex mechanical, electrical, PLC, robotics, and pneumatic maintenance with emphasis on reliability and safety.

Requires 4+ years of hands-on maintenance experience and a high school diploma or GED. Lean/Six Sigma experience is a plus; mentoring and cross-functional collaboration are important for success.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in maintenance, specifically with mechanical, electrical, PLC controls, robotics, pneumatics, and automated systems.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is highly desirable.
• Experience leading or mentoring teams in a maintenance environment is highly preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably bedding manufacturing or related industries.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems with minimal supervision.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrequent or complex issues across multiple systems.
• Serve as a technical leader within the maintenance team.
• Mentor and coach less-experienced mechanics.
• Lead training to develop junior and mid-level mechanics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements.
• Recommend equipment upgrades to increase performance and reduce downtime.
• Plan and perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and take corrective action.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting modifications and maintenance procedures.
• Use data to develop recommendations for improvements in machine performance.
• Ensure maintenance activities follow safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
