The Senior Maintenance Technician is a Team Member who is involved in equipment repair and preventive maintenance to prevent downtime of machinery consistent with company goals, business unit Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to include safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and customer service. This position also performs tasks similar to that of a Maintenance Multi-Craft Technician. In addition, this position has the responsibility of assisting the Maintenance Manager and/or Supervisor in carrying out certain aspects of their responsibilities and projects.
The Senior Maintenance Technician will be expected to maintain a good level of communication with other departments (Quality, Warehouse, Production, etc...) and ensure production priorities and shortfalls are addressed in a timely fashion.
- Functions as a member of the shift Maintenance Team and rapidly responds to equipment related problems.
- Applies maintenance troubleshooting skills in a wide variety of machine applications in response to production requirements (VFDs, Electrical Controls, Power Distribution Systems, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems, HVAC, etc..).
- Communicates information to Maintenance Manager and Production Manger regarding technical issues, equipment problems, and continuous improvement ideas.
- Documents equipment repairs/findings onto work orders for input into Maintenance Management System (MMS).
- Performs Preventative Maintenance (PM's), inspections and/or repair of equipment during shutdowns which may require weekend work and/or shift reassignment in response to production requirements.
- Supports the installation and start-up of new equipment.
- Performs welding and machine shop tasks related to repair of equipment and machinery.
- Works with equipment vendors or technical representatives on re-builds, service visits and equipment training to reduce downtime.
- Troubleshoots control wiring, relay logic, motor drive circuits, control system devices, photo eyes, limit switches, proximity switches, and transducers.
- Utilizes Digital Volt Meter, Mega OHM Meter and AMP probes to diagnose electrical problems.
- Preform Machine Adjustments as needed in support of production.
- Assist In Product Change Overs as required in support of production.
Maintenance Lead:
- Coordinate daily work assignments of team members.
- Fill in for manager in the absence.
- Facilitate work and determine repair procedures.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment on production floor, HVAC equipment, and VFD’s.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical control systems, power distribution systems, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and PLC Components and logic.
- Performs Preventative maintenance on production and facility equipment.
- Order parts for repair and upgrade of equipment.
- Facilitate annual inventory of spare parts for facility.
- Work with managers to note and fulfil all safety requirements for the facility.
- Complete all safety training required by AHJ.
- Work with team to complete all IFS requirements.
- Work with manager to identify weak points in department and equipment.
- Ability to deescalate stressful situations with people.
- Other duties assigned by management staff.
Qualification Requirements
- Experience with Siemens PLCs, Siemens Drives, and Siemens HMI’s.
- Experience with Servo Drives
- Experience with Ethernet Communications and Controls
- Experience with metal detectors
- Experience with flow meters and batch controllers
- Must Be Able To Read A Multi Meter
- Must Be Able Read And Understand Technical Manuals, Electrical Prints, Hydarulic Prints, and Pneumatic Prints.
- Must Be Able To Read Micrometer, Calipers, And Tape Measure In Both Metric And Standard
- Experience With AC/DC Control Circuits 120 VAC/ 24VDC
- Experience With Power Distributions Systems 480/277 VAC
- Must Be Able To Bend, Stoop, Or Be In Awkward For Extended Periods Of Time
- Must Be Able To Stand On Concrete Floors For Long Periods Of Time
- Experience In Food Manufacturing Preferred
- Applicant must be a committed team worker with a keen sense of responsibility and excellent attention to detail.
- 2 Yrs. Technical School or Associates Degree Preferred
Education and Experience
- 2 Yrs. Technical School or Associates Degree Preferred
- Minimum 5 Years Industrial Maintenance Experience Required
