Position Purpose:
To perform day-to-day maintenance using a variety of skills, with a focus on seasonal and special maintenance and improvements for the Schools HVAC (gas, oil, and electric heating and cooling equipment) and refrigeration systems.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct routine inspection, maintenance, and repairs of HVAC systems, standalone heating and cooling units, pressure vessel systems, and commercial refrigeration equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is serviced according to manufacturer specifications and adheres to federal, state, and local certification requirements.
- Maintain detailed service, performance, maintenance, and replacement history records for all equipment.
- Organize, inventory, and oversee safe storage of School-purchased equipment and tools related to maintenance duties.
- Research, recommend, and assist with procurement and installation of replacement parts or new equipment.
- Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs for the Schools smoke exhaust system, generator, and general exhaust and ventilation systems.
Additional Duties:
Assist with maintenance and repair of all MEP equipment, including:
- Science lab and art studio fume hoods, kilns, clay traps, etc.
- Food prep and vending equipment in staff and student dining areas.
- General plumbing and electrical systems.
- Support special events, including setup, breakdown, and storage (may require overtime/weekends).
- Assist with maintenance and housekeeping tasks, such as:
- Visitor parking and transportation.
- Student transportation and general deliveries.
- Custodial cleaning and trash removal.
- Seasonal snow and leaf removal, salting as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Facilities and Campus Operations.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Certified and proficient in commercial HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical circuits, controls, refrigeration systems, air handling, and pressure controls.
- Certified and proficient in gas and oil-fired furnaces and electric forced air systems, including ignition and combustion components, variable speed motors, circulation pumps, and thermostatic controls.
- Ability to read, understand, and operate Building Management Systems (BMS) for monitoring and controlling building infrastructure.
- Ability to perform duties and operate equipment in a skillful manner to accomplish the essential functions as outlined above
- Ability to read and follow guidelines for safe use and disposal of products/materials required to perform job responsibilities
- Ability to work independently and as a contributing member of team
- Valid PA drivers license and ability to operate all School vehicles and equipment
