Job summary

Greif is seeking a Sr. Maintenance Mechanic – Steel in La Porte, Indiana. The role focuses on preventive maintenance and repair of steel production machinery, including mechanical, electrical, PLC, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or technical training with 5+ years of relevant experience, strong problem-solving, and the ability to read schematics. English is required, bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or technical training (associate’s degree) in an industrial-related field and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and work orders.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability of machinery and equipment by completing preventive maintenance on systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, PLC, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
• Read and interpret manuals, diagrams, and engineering specifications; follow work orders.
• Manage work orders in the eMaint CMMS and report executed tasks.
• Provide guidance to junior maintenance colleagues and uphold safety policies.
