Job summary

Boise State University is seeking a Maintenance Craftsman, Senior to perform skilled trade duties in operation, maintenance, and repair of buildings and related facilities on campus in Boise, Idaho.

The role focuses on carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and general building maintenance with opportunities to lead, troubleshoot, and coordinate tasks within Housing & Residence Life. A valid driver's license is required and on-call rotations are part of the duties.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of: carpentry, plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance.
• Some knowledge of: HVAC and mechanical systems maintenance; building codes.
• Experience: performing skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and building maintenance repair; reading blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the repair and maintenance of light commercial and/or multi-unit residential facilities.
• Climbs ladders, enters crawl spaces, and uses scaffolding in the performance of duties.
• Lubricates, exchanges filters, flushes equipment, and performs various preventive maintenance as directed.
• Investigates reported deficiencies and services requests and determines remediation within licensing and budget guidelines.
• Performs and assists repair of light furniture damages.
• Performs fire safety activities such as testing and maintenance of fire extinguishers and emergency signage and lights.
• Hangs banners, signage, and wall mounted items.
• Performs maintenance on window systems, including removal and installation.
• Performs minor electrical maintenance tasks by troubleshooting and replacing defective components in light fixtures, receptacles, switches, etc.
• Performs minor plumbing/mechanical maintenance tasks by troubleshooting and replacing defective components in plumbing fixtures, faucets, exhaust fans, etc.
• Repairs drywall, paint surfaces, hard surface materials, floor coverings, ceilings, and related carpentry/maintenance tasks under supervision.
• Repairs and services maintenance and custodial equipment.
• Moves, transports, stocks materials and tools for tasks.
• Performs duties safely and efficiently.
