Job summary

Valiant Technologies LLC in Alpharetta, GA seeks a seasoned mainframe performance engineer to monitor z/OS environments, optimize WLM, and guide capacity planning. This role requires deep experience with RMF/SMF data and large multi-LPAR systems.

You will partner with operations, development, and infrastructure teams to analyze performance data, implement tuning strategies, and support migration of tooling into DevOps pipelines. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, mathematics, finance or another quantitative or related subject.
12+ years of mainframe systems experience with z/OS performance management.
Proficiency in JCL and DB2; experience with RMF/SMF, WLM tuning.

Responsibilities

Monitor real-time z/OS system health and performance across CPU, memory, DASD, and WLM workloads with RMF/SmartIS/MICS.
Detect, troubleshoot, and resolve resource anomalies and degradation risks in production systems; partner with incident response teams.
Develop and implement performance tuning strategies by adjusting service definitions, dispatch priorities, and workload placement.
Contribute to capacity planning by forecasting and modeling workload resource demand and capacity requirements.
Support cost modeling, vendor reporting, infrastructure sizing and resource optimization.
