Job summary

HTC Global Services is looking for a Mainframe COBOL Developer with 4+ years of experience to join our on-site team in Madison, WI. You will design, develop, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

You will contribute to modernization initiatives, provide production support, and create technical documentation. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential in this collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4+ years of experience in Mainframe development.
• Expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
• Strong COBOL programming experience, including batch and online applications.
• Proficiency with DB2 and SQL queries.
• Familiarity with TSO/ISPF, JCL, and debugging tools such as Abend-AID.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; troubleshooting capability.
• Experience using version control systems such as Endevor or Git.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
• Work with business analysts to understand requirements and translate to technical solutions.
• Write efficient, maintainable, and optimized code for batch jobs and OLTP.
• Perform unit testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Integrate Mainframe apps with other systems for data flow and interoperability.
• Provide production support by troubleshooting and resolving issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for code and configurations.
• Participate in code reviews and follow best practices.
• Collaborate with developers, testers, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver quality solutions on time.
• Contribute to Mainframe modernization initiatives.
