Job summary

HonorVet Technologies, a Service-Disable Veteran-Owned IT staffing firm, is seeking a Senior Application Programmer for Mainframe Systems in Downey, CA. The role requires onsite work five days a week with potential telework later, for a 12-month contract with possible extension.

The candidate will lead and contribute to complex applications design, development, testing, and support, using COBOL, IMS/DB/DC, DB2/SQL and related tools in a mainframe environment, ensuring quality and security.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in systems design and programming in mainframe environments.
Languages used include COBOL, Natural/SuperNatural, IMS/DB/DC, DB2/SQL, Assembler, SAS, CICS.
Experience with MVS/JCL, TSO/ISPF, and mainframe tools and databases.
Familiarity with z/OS, EntireX, and HTML/Cloverleaf integrations.

Responsibilities

Lead and/or contribute to design, development, testing, and deployment of mainframe applications.
Analyze requirements, translate them into architecture and prototypes.
Plan and design system architectures for reliability and scalability.
Write, debug, and maintain COBOL and related code; ensure quality and functionality.
Collaborate with customers to test and validate applications.
Ensure information security practices are applied to software services.
