Job summary

Machinists Incorporated is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist II to join our team on Swing Shift (Monday through Thursday, 2:20 p.m. – 12:50 a.m.).

You will set up and operate large and medium-sized multi-axis CNC mills and lathes to produce prototypes and low-volume precision components for aerospace, defense, energy, and tooling. You will read blueprints, inspect parts with precision measuring tools, and work with materials including steel, aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and Inconel.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of CNC machining in high‑mix, low‑volume environments.
  • Experience with multi‑axis mills/lathes.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints and GD&T.
  • Proficient with precision measuring tools.
  • Willing to work Swing Shift.

Responsibilities

  • Machine prototype, one-off, and low-volume production components to precise specs.

Job description

Machinists Incorporated is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist II to join our growing team on Swing Shift (Monday through Thursday, 2:20 p.m. – 12:50 a.m.). This position is ideal for a highly skilled machinist who thrives in a fast-paced job shop environment where every day brings new challenges.

In this role, you will set up and operate large and medium-sized multi-axis CNC mills and lathes, producing prototypes, one-off, and low-volume precision components for industries including aerospace, defense, energy, heavy equipment, naval vessels, and tooling. Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and mill-turn machineries.
  • Machine prototype, one-off, and low-volume production components to precise specifications.
  • Work with a variety of materials including steel, aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and Inconel.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy while maintaining close tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot machining processes and make program or setup adjustments as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce scrap, and minimize machine downtime.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and fellow machinists to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience in a job shop, prototype, R&D, or similar high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience setting up and operating multi‑axis CNC mills and/or lathes.
  • Experience machining complex precision components from a variety of materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and height gauges.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be available to work Swing Shift (Monday through Thursday).
