Job summary

Our client, a leading advanced manufacturing company in Ohio, seeks an experienced CNC Machinist to join on 3rd shift. The role requires high-precision setup and operation of 3-axis to 5-axis CNC machines with attention to detail and safety.

You will troubleshoot tooling and machine performance, mentor others, and collaborate with engineering to minimize downtime. Proficiency in G-Code/M-Code, Lean and 5S, and strong math skills are essential; a Technical School certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of CNC machining experience.
• Experience operating 3-axis to 5-axis CNC machines.
• Fluent in G-Code and M-Code.
• Strong shop math skills including trigonometry.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 3-axis to 5-axis CNC machine tools per instructions.

Our client, a leading advanced manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join their team on 3rd shift.

This role is ideal for a highly skilled machinist with extensive 3-axis to 5-axis CNC experience who enjoys troubleshooting complex machining challenges, mentoring others, and working with advanced manufacturing technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 3-axis to 5-axis CNC machine tools according to work instructions and manufacturing plans.
• Run new tool setups. (e.g. thread hole, pre-drill, blind hole, guide alignment and checks, etc.).
• Perform machine start-ups, shutdowns, and new tooling setups.
• Verify product quality through dimensional and visual inspections using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, profilometers, Contracers, and CMM equipment.
• Maintain product specifications by performing accurate measurements, identifying issues, and replacing worn tooling.
• Complete production records, quality logs, and inspection documentation accurately.
• Set tooling geometry using tool setters and tool dressers.
• Generate maintenance work orders and assist with machine repairs and recovery efforts.
• Perform daily and scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve machine issues and minimize downtime.
• Set up equipment for production, including fixture changes, calibrations, and machine adjustments.
• Troubleshoot machine performance and internal machine mechanics.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
• Assist in training team members and sharing machining best practices.
• Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 10 years of CNC machining experience.
• Experience operating 3-axis to 5-axis CNC machines.
• Experience with CNC machine controls.
• Strong understanding of tool geometry and tooling applications.
• Ability to troubleshoot machining and equipment issues.
• Fluent in G-Code and M-Code.
• Strong shop math skills, including trigonometry.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Safety-focused mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical School or Trade School certification.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Maintenance or equipment repair experience.
• Experience machining silicon, glass, or other brittle materials.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
• Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Occasional lifting up to 55 pounds.
• Ability to work around moving machinery and manufacturing equipment.
