Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Machinist with a strong background in metrology and precision measurement to join our manufacturing team. This role involves operating and programming complex machining equipment, as well as overseeing and performing high-precision inspection using both traditional and advanced metrology tools to ensure component quality to the highest standard.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machinery (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) for precision machining of complex components.
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T specifications, and technical drawings with high proficiency.
- Use a wide range of precision metrology tools (CMMs, vision systems, micrometers, surface plates, height gages, etc.) to inspect and validate machined parts.
- Develop and execute detailed inspection plans, including first article inspections and in-process verification.
- Assist in programming and operate coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) using software such as PC-DMIS.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of inspection results and machine setups while helping create new documentation with the manufacturing lead.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve dimensional issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Train and mentor machinists and programmers in precision machining and metrology techniques.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100 or other applicable quality standards.
- Work closely with engineering and quality for rapid prototype development

REQUIREMENTS:
- Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree or Certificate in Manufacturing Technology, CNC Programming, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience as a machinist in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Extensive hands-on experience with metrology and inspection tools and equipment.
- Proficiency with CMM programming (e.g., PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, or equivalent).
- Deep understanding of GD&T, ISO/ASME standards, and inspection methodology.
- Experience working with tight tolerances (±0.02mm or finer) in plastic material such as PVC, Acrylic.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must have the ability to use and train High Efficiency Milling (HEM) methods such as Dynamic milling and Trochoidal milling.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Journeyman Machinist Certification or equivalent.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., NX).
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.
