Job summary

Framatome is hiring a Machinist III in Lynchburg, VA. This full-time onsite role produces conventional machined components to tight tolerances and supports training of less experienced machinists.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent education.
• Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
• Two-year machining technology certificate and completion of four-year apprenticeship is preferred.
• Possess mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills to comprehend, follow written and verbal direction.
• Ability to plan, perform calculations, layout and select efficient cutting parameters for conventional machining of components/tooling.
• Ability to use and interpret basic shop inspection tools and manually record data.
• Good problem identification and problem resolution skills.
• Knowledge of conventional and CNC machine tool operations including application and programming.

Responsibilities

• Produce moderately complex to highly complex conventional machined components/tooling to precision tolerances.
• Inspect work of other machinists as directed by supervisor.
• Train and assist lower classification machinists as directed by supervisor.
• Comply with all plant work rules, regulations and specific instructions, maintain required records, logs and documentation.
• Identify and elevate operations problems to the area foreman with objective options for resolution.
• Produce complex conventional machined components/tooling to extreme precision tolerances.
• Handle hazardous materials properly.
