Job summary

Thea Energy is seeking an experienced Senior Machinist to program, operate, set up, and maintain our machine shop as we pursue next-generation fusion energy technology. You will bridge rapid R&D prototyping with small-run production, mastering both manual equipment and 3-axis CNC machines.

You will read complex drawings, program toolpaths using High-Efficiency Machining techniques, perform setup, inspection, and CNC troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years operating 3-axis CNC machines in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience with prototyping environments.
• Knowledge of HEM machining and tooling techniques.
• Hands-on setup, programming, and operation of CNC machinery.
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T with precision measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the machine shop, CNC and manual machines, plus metrology equipment.
• Set up CNC machines with tooling, fixtures, and programs for efficient runs.
• Read blueprints and interpret GD&T to guide machining.
• Perform routine CNC maintenance and troubleshooting; liaise with outside vendors as needed.
• Conduct quality inspections to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
