Senior Machine Vision & Imaging Systems Engineer
Location: Irvine, CA. Salary: $110,000.00–$130,000.00.

About the Role
We are seeking a hands‑on Senior Machine Vision & Imaging Systems Engineer to lead imaging operations, including equipment deployment, workflow optimization, and team leadership. You will manage the full lifecycle of product photography—from setup to final image output—ensuring high‑quality, consistent results for Collectors’ products.
This role reports directly to the Sr. Manager of Operations Engineering and works fully onsite with occasional travel.
What You’ll Do
- Lead setup, calibration, and maintenance of DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lighting systems, vision stations, turntables, robotic arms, etc.
- Troubleshoot hardware/software issues across imaging and automation systems.
- Recommend and evaluate new imaging technologies to enhance productivity.
- Oversee equipment inventory and usage.
- Develop and refine SOPs for manual and automated photography.
- Drive continuous improvements in imaging workflows for speed, consistency, and quality.
- Collaborate with software and commercial teams to ensure seamless image transfer.
- Train, mentor, and guide a team of imaging technicians.
- Assign workloads and manage daily/weekly schedules.
- Foster a collaborative, high‑performance environment.
Required Experience
- 5+ years in machine vision, imaging systems, or automated photography.
- 1–2 years in a lead, mentoring, or supervisory role.
- Experience in commercial imaging or automated imaging environments.
- Strong hands‑on skills in setting up and troubleshooting machine vision hardware.
- Machine vision system design, calibration & hardware selection.
- Experience with vision platforms (Keyence, Cognex, Basler, etc.).
- Strong understanding of FOV, depth, optics, and resolution requirements.
- Experience with high‑volume automated photography (Ortery, Pylon), preferred.
- Deep knowledge of DSLR/mirrorless systems—Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc.
- Basic Adobe Photoshop skills (plus).
- Familiarity with AI/deep learning for imaging (plus).
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Clear communicator with strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Extended periods of computer and camera‑equipment work.
- Comfortable working in low‑light imaging environments.
