Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking a 1st Shift Machine Operator II to operate machinery and meet customer specifications within GMP and Safety guidelines. The role requires coordinating with line personnel, maintaining sanitation, and ensuring product quality and packaging accuracy.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of machine operator experience and the ability to handle multiple packaging equipment while reading production reports.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of machine operator experience.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment.
• Ability to read, prepare and comprehend production reports and worksheets.
• Ability to operate multiple packaging equipment and set up packaging equipment using automatic computer controls.
• Willingness to work different shifts and travel to other plants.

Responsibilities

• Maintain area, equipment, and personal sanitation.
• Ensure proper set up of film, labels, cheese and operation of machinery.
• Frequent inspection of conveyor belt to ensure smooth flow of cheese.
• Grease/clean machine based on preventative maintenance schedule.
• Ensure cheese quality.
• Monitor line for speed and feed of cheese products.
• Ensure size and specifications of cheese are within tolerances.
• Take metric measurements and temperature readings as needed.
• Make weight adjustments.
• Review order specifications and perform quality checks on packaging.
• Communicate daily production issues and safety concerns to line personnel.
• Operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support maintenance and supervision with repairs and testing.
• Train and motivate new operators.
• Adhere to safety policies and Safe Quality Food Program.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
