Overview

Operate multiple machine tools to fabricate metal or plastic components, making approximately half of the setup independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce parts from raw materials such as bars, flat forms, casting, and forging materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals and plastics, using various machine tools, hand tools, measuring devices, and tool steels and carbides.
• Shape and thread parts to meet blueprints and instructions.
• Perform machine shop math calculations.
• Work with and complete job order forms.
• Read blueprints, WPS manuals, sketches, and oral instructions to plan and lay out work.
• Set up own machine by completing all necessary steps.
• Self-inspect parts to ensure specifications are met before passing to the next process.
• Support company quality initiatives and policies.
• Follow safety policies, report hazards, and participate in safety initiatives and investigations.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area in compliance with safety standards.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year vocational technical training or equivalent experience.
• Meet experience, skill, and behavior competencies for transition from Machine Operator II to Senior Machine Operator.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Ability to read blueprints and work within drawing tolerances.
• Perform machine shop math calculations.
• Set up feeds, speeds, tools, and measuring devices.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers for in-process inspection.
• Demonstrate versatility, knowledge, and professionalism.
