Job summary
Canonical is seeking an experienced software engineer for the MAAS team to advance Metal As A Service provisioning and scale. You will work on MAAS core components, shaping architecture for speed and usability while collaborating across teams to ensure timely releases.
The role requires strong Python/Go or TypeScript/React skills, Linux backend experience, and a readiness to travel internationally several times a year. You'll contribute to tests, CI, and world-class documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or STEM field.
- Professional software development experience in Python, Go or TypeScript/React.
- Strong English written and verbal communication.
- Experience with Linux server technologies and networking basics.
- Knowledge of PXE, DHCP, DNS, NTP and related data centre concepts.
- Willingness to travel internationally several times a year.
Responsibilities
- Develop MAAS core components and features for the metal cloud platform.
- Shape MAAS architecture to be simpler, faster, and easier to use.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure integration and timely releases.
- Contribute to CI, tests and documentation for operators.
- Provide technical communication across teams and own problems to resolution.
- Travel internationally a few times a year for collaboration.
