Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer for its next-generation UAS program to design, develop, and integrate the Launch & Recovery Vehicle (LRV) and to lead system architecture across avionics, hydraulics, power, and navigation.

You will work with propulsion, hardware, software, flight operations, and manufacturing teams to deliver a mobile, mission-ready LRV; develop CONOPs for deployment, crew roles, logistics footprint, and field survivability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of related experience.
• Experience defining system architecture, behavior logic, and operational modes for complex electromechanical systems.
• Experience integrating avionics, hydraulics, electrical power distribution, and navigation on vehicles or launch/recovery systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine the LRV architecture, integrating avionics, hydraulics, electrical power, navigation, and launch/recovery mechanisms.
• Define LRV modes, states, transitions, and fault responses for transport, emplacement, launch, recovery, and stow.
• Establish top-level LRV requirements and maintain traceability across the development lifecycle.
• Develop CONOPs for road, air, and ship transportability and deployment.
• Support LRV integration, ground testing, verification, and field testing with aircraft.
