Job summary

Boeing is seeking a Senior LO Mission Systems Integration Engineer in the United States to lead design, integration, and testing of low observable materials and radomes for mission systems.

You will apply advanced CEM solvers to model antennas, drive integration with mechanical and sensor constraints, and oversee tests from anechoic chambers to RCS measurements. Leadership, mentoring, and clear technical reporting are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
  • 5 years experience working hands-on with LO materials and technologies across integration, design, manufacturing, and/or testing.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (U.S. Only Citizenship required)

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, modeling, and analysis efforts for LO materials, coatings, structures, and integrated mission systems to meet signature reduction and performance requirements.
  • Independently apply CEM solvers (e.g., FEKO, HFSS, CST, WIPL?D, xFDTD, or equivalent) to model antennas, apertures, radomes, and LO treatments; perform design optimization and trade studies.
  • Drive integration of LO treatments with mechanical, thermal, and sensor/antenna system constraints; identify and mitigate producibility, testability, and sustainment risks.
  • Plan, execute, and oversee laboratory and field tests (anechoic chamber measurements, antenna/radome characterization, RCS measurements); lead data collection, reduction, and validation activities.
  • Develop and validate predictive models, reconcile simulations with measurements, perform uncertainty quantification, and provide actionable recommendations to engineering and program leadership.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation: test plans, test reports, technical memoranda, design reviews, and customer briefings.
  • Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior engineers and technicians; ensure adherence to engineering processes, quality standards, and configuration control.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams (structures, materials, manufacturing, RF/antennas, systems engineering) to deliver integrated system solutions on schedule and within cost.

Job Description

At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. We’re committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that’s welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us.

The Senior LO Mission Systems Integration Engineer will lead design, integration, analysis, test, and production activities for low observable materials, structures, apertures, sensors, and radomes for mission systems. The role requires strong technical leadership, independent execution of complex tasks, advanced use of computational electromagnetic (CEM) solvers, and the ability to produce and defend technical results with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design, modeling, and analysis efforts for LO materials, coatings, structures, and integrated mission systems to meet signature reduction and performance requirements.
  • Independently apply CEM solvers (e.g., FEKO, HFSS, CST, WIPL?D, xFDTD, or equivalent) to model antennas, apertures, radomes, and LO treatments; perform design optimization and trade studies.
  • Drive integration of LO treatments with mechanical, thermal, and sensor/antenna system constraints; identify and mitigate producibility, testability, and sustainment risks.
  • Plan, execute, and oversee laboratory and field tests (anechoic chamber measurements, antenna/radome characterization, RCS measurements); lead data collection, reduction, and validation activities.
  • Develop and validate predictive models, reconcile simulations with measurements, perform uncertainty quantification, and provide actionable recommendations to engineering and program leadership.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation: test plans, test reports, technical memoranda, design reviews, and customer briefings.
  • Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior engineers and technicians; ensure adherence to engineering processes, quality standards, and configuration control.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams (structures, materials, manufacturing, RF/antennas, systems engineering) to deliver integrated system solutions on schedule and within cost.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
  • 5 years experience working hands?on with LO materials and technologies across integration, design, manufacturing, and/or testing.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (U.S. Only Citizenship required)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory including scattering, reflection, transmission, polarization, and aperture/antenna fundamentals.
  • Proven proficiency using computational electromagnetic (CEM) solvers to design and optimize LO systems.
  • Advanced data processing and analysis skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python) for post-processing simulation and measurement data; experience with scripting and automating solver workflows is highly desirable.
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills with demonstrated experience producing and defending test plans and technical reports.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and deliver results with minimal oversight.
  • Direct experience with antennas, apertures, sensors, and/or radomes in design, testing, or research.
  • Hands-on experience with anechoic chamber measurements, near-field/far-field antenna testing, or RCS measurement techniques.
  • Familiarity with LO materials (absorbers, coatings, RAMs), surface treatments, and manufacturing processes relevant to aerospace applications.
  • Experience with optimization routines, sensitivity studies, and scripting for batch simulation and data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes, interface control, and test & evaluation cycles.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and leading multi-disciplinary technical efforts
