Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced analytics professional to design and maintain LookML models, dashboards, and data pipelines in Looker. You will optimize performance, migrate legacy reports, and collaborate with offshore teams to meet sprint deadlines.

Responsibilities include governance, data quality oversight, and translating complex data into business-ready insights for stakeholders. Strong SQL, data modeling, and communication skills are essential in this client-facing role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years analytics/BI experience with 5+ years hands-on Looker (LookML, dashboards, explores, SQL)
• Master's or Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, computer engineering, or related analytics field
• Strong expertise in data modeling, SQL, and ETL concepts
• Hands-on experience with performance tuning and optimization of Looker reports and queries
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery or equivalent cloud data warehouse
• Able to translate technical info into concise business language
• Experience migrating from legacy BI platforms to Looker
• Domain experience in relevant analytics sectors
• Prior analytics-based consulting experience
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain LookML models, views, explores, and Looker dashboards to client standards
• Architect scalable LookML structures for cross-domain reporting
• Conduct code reviews for offshore developers and enforce standards
• Optimize Looker report and query performance; tune PDTs and dashboard load times
• Lead migration of legacy reports to Looker; manage requirements, LookML build, and UAT
• Partner with offshore Analysts to track migration workload against sprint deadlines
• Validate migrated reports against source data and business logic; document deviations
• Maintain migration tracker and provide weekly status to PM
• Work hands-on with client data; manage large data sources and assess data quality
• Translate complex data models into clear language for stakeholders and presentations
• Support data governance, security, and access control in Looker
• Collaborate with client analytics engineers on BigQuery data model design and optimization
• Serve as Looker standards resource for EXL offshore team; create documentation and checklists
• Support onboarding of new Looker developers into client standards and workflows
• Contribute to EXL's Looker practice with reusable patterns and accelerators
