Job summary

Harvard University Central Administration is seeking a seasoned Locksmith for Cambridge, MA campus to install, repair, and maintain mechanical and electronic locking systems. You will design master key systems while ensuring safety and accessibility compliance, and collaborate with facilities staff on complex projects.

The role requires at least five years of locksmith experience, strong troubleshooting and carpentry skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of locksmith experience.
• Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, and carpentry skills.
• Working knowledge of electronic access control systems.
• Experience with installation and repair of mechanical and electro‑mechanical hardware.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot mechanical and electronic locking systems.
• Design, implement, and maintain master key systems, including high‑security systems.
• Retrofit and upgrade existing locking and access control systems.
• Collaborate with other trades and facilities staff on projects and repairs.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, ADA requirements, and institutional standards.
