Job summary

Harvard University’s Facilities Maintenance Operations is seeking an experienced Locksmith to perform comprehensive lock installation, maintenance, and repair on mechanical and electronic systems at the Harvard Campus in Cambridge, MA. The role focuses on master key design, high-security systems, and ensuring ADA and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities include key cutting, system documentation, and collaboration with other trades.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of locksmith experience.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and carpentry skills.
• Working knowledge of electronic access control systems.
• Experience with installation and repair of mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot mechanical and electronic locking systems.
• Cylindrical and mortise locksets, emergency exit devices, door closers and related hardware.
• Design, implement, and maintain master key systems, including high-security systems.
• Cut and duplicate keys using manual and machine methods.
• Maintain records and logs of key systems and hardware.
