Job summary

Cotality is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in the US to provide technical leadership for Location Services and geospatial platforms. You will shape architecture, drive cross-team strategy, and ensure scalable, reliable systems across the company.

The role partners with engineering leaders, product teams, and stakeholders to align technical outcomes with business priorities. It is a hybrid position with in-office presence in major US offices and remote work options.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with senior leadership
• Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems
• Proficiency in backend languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python)
• Experience building cloud-native services (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• Strong understanding of data storage technologies (relational, NoSQL, time-series, or geospatial)
• Proven ability to influence technical direction across teams without direct authority
• Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture for Location Services and geospatial capabilities
• Drive scalable, low-latency, highly available systems
• Define standards for geospatial data modeling and processing
• Act as technical owner for critical components and services
• Guide cross-team initiatives and align with product and data goals
• Improve observability, resilience, and reliability of geospatial systems
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering rigor
