Job summary

Cotality seeks a Principal Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for our Location Services team. This role shapes architecture, drives cross‑team technical strategy, and ensures the scalability, correctness, and security of location‑based systems across the company.

The position is hybrid (1 day in the office and 4 work from home) and based from any of Cotality's US offices: Dallas, Austin, Irvine, San Diego.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with senior leadership.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Java, C++, or Python.
• Experience with cloud-native services (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Strong knowledge of relational, NoSQL, time-series, or geospatial databases.
• Excellent communication across teams to articulate trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the architecture of core Location Services and geospatial capabilities.
• Lead system design for scalable, low-latency location-based services.
• Define standards for geospatial data modeling, querying, and processing.
• Influence roadmap direction through technical insight and risk assessment.
