Job summary

Apple Inc. in New York City seeks a Senior AIML Research Engineer focusing on multilingual LLM post-training. You will work on instruction following, tool use, deep reasoning, and architectural adaptations to deliver privacy-forward, language-capable assistants across the Apple ecosystem.

Collaboration with the Translation & Multilingual Intelligence team is essential. Hiring requires 4+ years in ML/NLP, strong Python and JAX/PyTorch, and a Masters/PhD or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Masters/PhD in Computer Science, ML, or related field.
• Strong publication or practical experience in NLP/LLMs.
• Fluent in Python and deep learning frameworks (e.g., JAX or PyTorch).

Responsibilities

• Interface with product teams to translate requirements into model capabilities and improve observed loss patterns in different model training stages.
• Research data strategies for high-quality human and synthetic data generation, automated data filtering, and curriculum learning to improve multilingual response quality and locale coverage.
• Design robust evaluation methodologies for model helpfulness, factuality, and utility across real-world settings.
• Design and iterate on end-to-end post-training strategies to unlock model capabilities toward achieving specific model behaviors.
