Job summary

Village of River Oaks in Houston, TX is seeking a full-time Resident Medication Aide to provide compassionate, resident-centered care in a homelike environment. Shifts are 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m., with PRN options and weekend/holiday availability.

A $1,000 sign-on bonus applies for full-time employees. Responsibilities include administering medications, maintaining records, and ensuring infection control.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 6 months to 1 year of prior resident care experience, preferably with seniors.
• Delegation by a Registered Nurse for medication administration.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills, good judgment, and attention to detail.
• Understanding of HIPAA requirements.
• EOE/M/F/D/V

Responsibilities

• Exercise independent judgment in resident care beyond routine tasks.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitor responses.
• Assist residents with medications and supervise self-administration.
• Maintain daily resident records including medication distribution and observations.
• Write weekly/monthly summaries addressing issues in service plans.
• Keep the medicine supply room clean and organized.
• Receive and manage reports on all residents.
• Count controlled substances with outgoing RMAs and verify accuracy.
• Provide direct resident care per the Resident Assistant role description.
• Follow emergency procedures and respond to resident requests promptly.
• Promote teamwork with co-workers and participate in in-service trainings.
• Be active in the community emergency response team.
• Maintain professional appearance and hygiene per policy.
