Job summary

Avamere Skilled Advisors, LLC d/b/a Avamere Living is hiring a Maintenance Assistant for Arete at Desert Sage Retirement ALF in Bend, OR. The role covers routine maintenance, safety checks, and cleaning within a long-term care and memory care community.

You will work under the Building Maintenance Director, ensuring a safe, clean, and compliant environment for residents and staff, with opportunities to assist with larger projects and vendor coordination.

Qualifications

• Experience with maintenance of buildings such as long-term care facilities.
• Basic knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators, and mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems.
• Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations.
• Confidentiality of resident care information.
• Create and uphold warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm environment.
• A genuine desire to improve quality of life for seniors.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, minor repairs, and keeping the facility in good order.
• Conduct safety checks, report hazards or needed repairs; assist with snow/ice removal as needed.
• Assist with cleaning, sanitation, floor care, and waste removal.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies and equipment.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and repairs.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for larger repairs and maintenance projects.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies promptly.
• Ensure compliance with fire safety and OSHA/EPA regulations.
• Inspect property for hazards and ensure safe operation.
• Collaborate with other departments for smooth facility operation.
