Job summary

Hawthorn Senior Living in Southern Pines, NC seeks a Cook to prepare nutritious, attractive meals from scratch and support a busy kitchen team following Hawthorn menus and portion controls. This universal worker will be cross-trained in other positions as directed by the Community Executive Chef.

You will maintain sanitation, read recipes, and ensure timely meal service while upholding resident satisfaction and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Culinary arts degree or equivalent experience is required.
• Two years of institutional or full-service restaurant cooking experience.
• Ability to read and prepare recipes and follow Hawthorn menus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals following Hawthorn menus and recipes.
• Practice Hawthorn portion-control standards.
• Follow safe food-handling procedures.
• Oversee preparation and setup of serving carts.
• Serve nutritious food, attractively garnished and on time.
• Maintain temperature, logs, and related records.
• Assist in administrative duties like menu planning and payroll if required.
• Ensure residents are served with dignity and respect.
