Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Two years as cook in a large-scale cooking operation preferred.
• One year’s work experience in long term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes; refers to supervisor for menu changes.
• Reviews menus and census information to determine food quantities.
• Prepares food following safety guidelines and regulations.
• Assists with food ordering, storage and preparation to serve meals on time.
• Maintains standards for food preparation and uses substitutes when required.
• Operates kitchen equipment and bakes, roasts, broils, and steams items.
• Completes pre-preparation including washing, peeling and cutting vegetables/fruits.
• Serves food attractively and tests palatability; records temperatures.
• Follows cleaning schedule and maintains hygiene; handles trash and utensil cleaning.
• Meets meal schedules and reports to Dietary Manager when needed.
