Job summary

The Bristal Assisted Living in Bethpage, NY is seeking friendly Waitstaff to serve meals to Residents of a luxury Independent Living Community. You will take orders, ensure tables are clean, guide Residents with menu selections, and help with plating and portions. Part-time or per diem schedules may include weekends.

Experience in a restaurant setting and a customer-service mindset are essential. Prior senior-care experience is a plus, and a respectful, audible, and polite demeanor is required

Qualifications

• Experience as a server in a restaurant or food service related industry.
• Able to function in a fast paced environment.
• Strong ability to multi-task.
• Good communication, customer service and people skills.
• Patient and able to deal with a demanding customer base.
• Experience working with a senior population is preferred, but not required.
• A team player, willing to help out where needed to ensure a pleasurable dining experience for our Residents.
• Familiarity with food safety, food preparation and board of health guidelines a plus.
• You must have an abiding respect for seniors and be able to speak in an audible and polite manner at all time.

Responsibilities

• Take resident meal orders
• Check station tables for settings and cleanliness
• Read the menu before service so that you are able to assist the Residents with their selections
• Assist in the plating and proper portion controls of some or all of the following: appetizer, salads, soup, beverages and desserts
• Full Time Schedule will be for a Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday day shift. Part Time hours also available covering the day shift. Part Time schedule will likely include one weekend day per week.
