Job summary

Cedarhurst Senior Living seeks a Dining Services Director to lead all aspects of the community's dining program, ensuring nutritious, high-quality meals and exceptional hospitality for residents, families, and guests.

You will supervise 10–15 dining staff, manage menus, inventory, budgeting, vendor relations, and compliance with food safety standards, while collaborating with marketing and community leadership.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree with culinary training OR 3-5 years of culinary experience required.
• Applicable state/county licensure required.
• Food Manager Certification, or ability to obtain, is required.
• CPR or BLS certification preferred.
• Previous staff management and/or coaching and mentoring of dining services team experience is preferred.
• Experience in a senior living community is preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in common digital tools and platforms, including Microsoft Office programs, web-based platforms, electronic health record systems, and HR-related systems.

Responsibilities

• Supervise 10-15 employees in dining services for seniors.
• Schedule staff and ensure coverage when needed.
• Maintain communication with vendors, leadership, and regional dining services team.
• Support catering, room service, and marketing-related needs.
• Manage food inventories and keep costs within budget.
• Instruct staff on kitchen equipment operation and safety.
• Provide hands-on training and knowledge of dining shifts and resident needs.
• Create recipes that are easy for dietary staff to follow.
• Ensure safe handling of food and adherence to guidelines.
• Recruit, orientate, and hire new dining staff.
