Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living in Abingdon, VA is currently seeking a Cook to prepare, present and serve meals in the Dining Room and Bistro, following menus, nutritional plans and safety guidelines. You will support resident tray service and catering events while maintaining quality, presentation and timely production.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of cooking experience, familiarity with sanitation standards, and strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of cooking experience required.
• Working experience in the retirement home industry preferred.
• Knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and stand for extended periods.
• Effective communication and teamwork in a diverse environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, present, store, and dispatch all food products for Dining Room, Bistro, and resident trays.
• Ensure menu items are prepared and served according to policies and safety guidelines.
• Maintain quality, taste, presentation, and dietary requirements.
• Adhere to sanitary procedures and health regulations; ensure proper storage of food items.
• Assist with training of new employees and flexible to fill shifts as needed.
• Serve food in proper portions and temperatures; report incidents per procedures.
