Job summary

Vista Senior Living Management's Eden Vista Burr Ridge is hiring a full-time cook to join our healthcare kitchen team. Responsibilities include preparing meals for seniors, maintaining safety and sanitation, and ensuring high-quality presentation. Morning shifts with varying days from 6 AM to 2 PM or 9 AM to 5 PM.

Experience in senior care settings and a State Sanitation license are preferred. Competitive wages and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

Experience in cooking in a healthcare setting, with knowledge of modified diets/mechanically altered diets.
Must have State sanitation license.
Experience using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware.
Knowledge of various cooking procedures (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.).
Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
Ability to work in a team.
Very good communication skills.
Excellent physical condition and stamina.

Responsibilities

Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.).
Cook food using various utensils or grillers.
Monitor food while cooking and stir or turn as needed.
Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before serving.
Keep a sanitized and orderly kitchen environment.
Store food and other items properly.
Check quality of ingredients.
Monitor stock and place orders when shortages occur.
