Job summary

Compass Senior Living is seeking a Cook to join our dining services team in Portland, OR. The role involves preparing meals under the Dining Services Director, ensuring nutrition and presentation, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment for our elders.

You will help train and orient new staff, greet residents and families, and uphold infection-control standards. A background check is required and ability to read/write/speak English is essential.

Qualifications

• Formally trained in the culinary arts or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to learn and work in a team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Food handler permit or ability to obtain one as required by state.

Responsibilities

• Prep and prepare meals under the guidance of the Dining Services Director.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, appetizing, and attractively presented.
• Help orient new team members and assist with scheduling.
• Greet elders, families, visitors, and team members to create a friendly environment.
• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas and equipment.
• Follow infection control and foodborne illness prevention procedures.
