Job summary

Wingate Living in Cranston, RI is seeking a Cook to prepare and serve meals according to cycle menus, while ensuring safe food handling and proper kitchen sanitation. The role reports to the Food Service Director and requires ability to read recipes, follow diet orders, and work flexible hours, including emergencies and cross-site coverage.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of healthcare food service experience, strong verbal and written communication, and basic arithmetic for recipe

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent education is preferred.
• Minimum one year food service experience in a health care dietary setting is desired.
• Verbal and writing abilities necessary to communicate and work effectively with various levels of staff, residents, family members and the public.
• Numerical ability necessary to make various computations in keeping work records, and in recipe preparation.
• Ability to read and understand and follows recipe directions, diet orders and work assignments.
• Able and willing to work flexible hours, such as during an emergency situation. Must be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family
• Must be willing to assist at another facility for coverage or help during an emergency; travel will be reimbursed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves meals according to cycle menu; monitors methods of food handling, preparation, meal service and equipment cleaning.
• The Cook reports directly to the Food Service Director
