Ideal candidates have prior healthcare or assisted living cooking experience, strong culinary skills, and a compassionate, team-oriented attitude, with ability to follow dietary guidelines and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary certification a plus.
• Experience as a cook, preferably in healthcare or assisted living.
• Strong culinary skills with focus on preparation and presentation; knowledge of elderly dietary requirements.
• Compassionate, patient demeanor; excellent communication and teamwork.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Meal preparation and cooking according to menus and dietary guidelines; ensure attractive presentation.
• Assist in planning weekly menus considering residents’ dietary needs and restrictions.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures; maintain a clean kitchen.
• Engage with residents to accommodate meal preferences and dietary concerns.
• Monitor inventory, order supplies, and manage shelf life of ingredients.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance to the Food Services Manager.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth meal service operations.
• Complete required documentation like temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
