Job summary

Valparaiso Senior Living by StoryPoint Group is seeking a full-time Cook for 6am-2pm or 11am-7pm shifts to prepare meals for residents and guests. You will follow menus and recipes, plate items with proper portions, and support a friendly, team-focused kitchen environment.

Required is at least a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years’ line cook experience. Strong communication skills are essential for coordinating with staff and supervisors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma (or equivalent) or technical school.
• Minimum of three years of line cook experience and/or training.
• Good communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare food for residents, guests, and employees.
• Prepare food according to the planned menu using standard recipes.
• Plate food items following portion guidelines and garnishing instructions.
• Assist other kitchen staff as needed and perform duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Ensure that sufficient food is prepped and/or prepared.
• Communicate with supervisor regarding shortages or outages.
• Ensure freshness, proper seasoning, and cooking status of all foods served.
• Stock and clean station for next shift.
